Soar

A Poem

Soar

Songbird notes dive and swell

Flying in the wind of cotton candy sky of my imagination

Drum tap water drops gather in the packed sink

Nearly silent but still supporting

The tips of golden Gerbers tinted brown with age

Compliment them in an odd contrast

Making them wise

Dormant children’s toys wait to be loved

Like so many do in their own lives

Markers capped contain the colors to contrast the dull

But are constrained by their self-inability

Bunched and heaped into a pile they plot

Plans of privilege and being proactive

Soon they will reign themselves instead of slaves of others

If a hopeful wisher plucks a puffed dandelion from the grass and blows

Does it not spread to plant more wishes?

If with a needle a child is pricked and injected with an antigen

Are they not protected from the potential disaster of the pathogen?

If one fell from their high accomplishments

would they not learn to regain their footing?

Pain and failure should not be equated to faults
