Although some are afraid to admit it,
Living is full of plain banality;
It leads you neighbour to mendacity.
Her perjury: unable to commit
To the life she's been forced to inhabit.
It's your childhoods bathetic impunity
That's caused you to stand in sodality
With others who would much rather quit it.
But, yet, You, I, Us, Them, all still stand strong:
Just to see another glowing sunset,
Just to see the smile of the shop boy,
Which fixes a day which was just too long.
Now, as the day reaches smudging moonset,
Remember this banal life has some joy.
