Sleep

It’s Not for Me

Some find the light unenlightening

Some find realization in the dark

Some find the dark mistreating

Some find loneliness in their heart.

Those who find the glory in sunshine

Can still smile on a misty day

But those who wish away the eternal glowing

Never went outside to play.

In the night I find my heart tightening

Too many thoughts surround my head

And even though my sleeping cloud has upgraded

I still find pain in a bed.

I sleep next to those who are patient

Whose pulse should be medically concerning

But the happiness of those who sleep the night through

Is what for years, I’ve been yearning.

So we close are eyes when it’s dark and night

And pray we only dream with perspective

For though the body needs to rest and rejuvenate,

I wish that sleep was elective.
