Single Parent's Prayer

Dear Lord,

I pray that I may be the guide to which my children seek to follow

That I may be the shoulder whom they lean to with all their sorrows

To be their invisible strength when they feel they can't hold on

And to be there to lead them home when their fears tell them to run

I cannot be a mother and a father as well as a friend

But I hope to be something more special whose devotion never ends

That special voice inside their hearts which reminds them that they are loved

That stubborn strength within their souls which tells them they must go on

The twinkle in their eyes with each smile and every joy

The laughter in their songs to rejoice a world which we behold

I only pray that I can be the best parent that I can be

The tears of joy, love, and loss I hope my children will see

My gifts of love and strength and hope

So they may see all that they can be

I love this so much, thank you for writing this. Being a single parent is one of the hardest things in the world, but it certainly does make us pray more for our children.
