Silent Soliloquy
Inspired by a late-night walk

Pounding in my head, silent soliloquy
Wasting me away, everlasting entropy
Walking in a land of bountiful nothing
Searching in vain for a sliver of something
Something to make this all worthwhile
Give meaning to all these endless miles
These lonely miles of stone and dust
This land of persistent corrosion and rust
Rust travels far on these bitter winds
I choke on the particles, the nightmare begins
Nothing ahead and nothing behind
Desperately, I look to the sky
The sky shines bright with pinpricks of light
The only beauty in this endless night
I smile at the lights shimmering so far
And then—behold!—a shooting star
