Silence

A Poem

You say my silence is arrogant, but I say it's not. I find it respectful.

You say my silence is rude, but I say it's not. I find it is innocent.

You say my silence is inelegant, but I say it’s not. I find it beautiful.

You assume my silence makes me weak, but I find it as my source of strength.

You assume my silence shows I am afraid of you, but I find it where I am humble.

You assume my silence constitutes hate, but I find it creates peace and love.

You misunderstand when I’m in silence—that I am in trouble. But I am in peace.

You misunderstand when I’m in silence—that I am not listening. But I am observing.

You misunderstand when I'm in silence—that I am a fool. But I am wise.
