A Note to Us from Reality

If I told you, would you run?
Would you walk the other way?
Would you shrink from all my secrets?
Or rather choose to stay?
If I told you, would you laugh?
Would you believe me?
Would you try?
Or would you rather stay hidden from my dark and twisted lies?
If I told you, I wouldn’t blame you
For forgetting I was ever there.
What I carry is indeed a burden
That’s rarely seen as fit to bear.
But still I hope, that if I told you,
You wouldn’t flee or fear,
Yet I’ll understand if you decide
That it’s the truth you don’t want to hear.
But If I told you, I’d walk away,
And leave you with no omission.
And you’d be left a better man,
If only you would listen.
