She Never Quit

Dedicated to My Unstoppable Mother

She didn't quit,

when I wanted to.

She didn't quit,

after I screamed to leave me alone.

She didn't quit,

when I spent all my time away from home.

She didn't quit,

when the world started breaking her.

She didn't quit,

when she lost it all.

She didn't quit,

even when she wanted to.

She didn't quit,

when everyone would have understood if she did.

She didn't quit,

when they said to walk away.

She didn't quit,

because that just isn't her way.

She didn't quit,

being a wife, being a mother.

She didn't quit,

no matter how sick she was or how scared.

She didn't quit,

because she is a warrior.

She didn't quit,

because there is iron in her soul, and fire in her heart.

She didn't quit,

she wore her pain like armor and her scars like jewels.

She didn't quit,

because that's not how she was raised.

She didn't quit,

and because of that she won.
