Seconds

There is a person in this world who I strongly admire. They were so close, yet so far from reach. Just by simply watching them day after day, I learned so much about them. One day, I sensed that this person was living a life that they were not happy with, and I knew it was only a matter of time before they set out looking for something new to ease their restless soul. My assumptions were correct, and then one day, they were gone. This person doesn't even know who I am, and now that they are gone, I am not sure they ever will. This person has inspired me in ways they will never know, and to forget them and the impact they left on me would be impossible.

Upon your face

I can't help but notice

There is a trace of loneliness

A smile, like rays of sunshine

Spewed out from the hands of God himself

But through your eyes I enter

Into another realm

Where raging storms, much like prisoners,

Are held captive

Anxiously awaiting their release

You are here, but your heart, it longs

For someplace,

for something—else

Where will you go?

And when will you leave?

What a world in which we exist

Love,

hate,

death,

loneliness

All of which, we must perceive

Given no option, but to live

With the sorrow in our eyes

My dear, so sudden

like a whisper in the wind, you are gone

But so brave,

so strong, you are

to kiss this life you've worked to build

farewell and goodbye

And for this, I must confess

I have fallen for you

If you choose to return,

I will find you once more,

I will not waste a second

I will grab your hand

before you can reach for the door.
