Searching for Kindness

It is a challenging thing these days

To find love in the small things

When all we see is hate fill our screens

Strangers spouting off on the internet maze

Accepting others seems difficult to find

When you are harassed for the color of skin

Or the political standpoint you hold within

It starts to seep negativity into our minds

If we could learn to understand and love

Find it in our hearts to stop pressing send

Open our hearts and begin to mend

Keep our heads grounded and our hearts above

Compassion should not be a secondhand thought

It should fill our screens, our interactions, our hearts

Instead of pressing send on the hateful parts

Give a compliment instead of word-filled gunshots

The world would turn into a caring place

Where opinions were no longer judged but embraced

Individuality would bloom instead of being erased

We would live in a world filled with a bit more grace
