Sea of Gods

The thunder rumbles like the storms beating heart Lightning striking angrily at the sea We are akin to an insect in a war of men But today the gods will battle

We hope just once again to hear the seagulls cackling And we barely remember the faces of our loves The taste of cooked food and fine mead Feels as distant as the shore

The sting of roped burnt hands And the drunk stumbling from the rock of the ship The showering of rain and torment of waves Salt drenching our nose through the water All add to the overwhelming sorrow of pain

The thunder gets louder, the laughter of giants Taunting our pain and each wave pushes us Down to ol’ Jones Locker, but we must move on This isn’t the time to go and rest for the Sea will not be our graves
