A Lost Love

As I draw in a deep breath

My lungs fill with your smell

Still lingering on

Like some forgotten tale

From years past

I clutch the pillow

That was once yours

Curl my body around it

In hopes to preserve

Some small piece of you

Tears trail down my face

Mingling with what was once yours

My heart is not shattered

Like so many described before me

It is simply gone

Vanished from this Earth

Only to return again

When I can hold you once more

Like I did yesterday

And the day before

But that will never happen

Not any more

Since you were taken from me

To even a score
