Saying Goodbye

The scars in the wind take my breath away.

Not the breath that lingers around us even after we’ve taken our last;

Not the breath that gives you life and makes you feel the scars;

The scars in the wind tear me apart;

The scars that gives my heart its last beat.

The last time I’ll take a breath is when that beat is over.

I make it last so my breath becomes another scar.

Another lingering life,

Another body left cold,

The only way to savour that breath is a final goodbye.

Goodbye to the feelings that I once could feel in my body;

Goodbye to the faces around me that will remain full of life while I go;

Goodbye to the sadness that stays behind in my last few moments.

A lifeless body,

Shattering tears in the scars of the wind.
