Savior or Murderer

From a Day I Placed Someone Else's Life in My Hands

"I have no reason not to give up"

"I already have"

.

"Please, just hold on a little while longer"

"You haven't lost yet. It's not over"

.

"I want you, but I'm just not good enough"

"I wish it were different, honestly"

"I am not meant for this world"

.

So far away, you're counting down the weeks

days

hours

minutes

pushing 100 miles an hour down the rain slick highway

with tears in your eyes and terror in your heart.

Hoping against hope you're not too late,

that when you FINALLY get to him

he's waiting to fall into your arms-

And not bleeding out in the back of an ambulance,

EMTs speeding to save him, just like you.

Please, when it happens

when the lights are flashing red,

sirens wailing like spirits in the night,

please let the paramedics save him

let them snatch up his soul before it leaves completely,

and stitch it back inside as they dress his wounds.

While you're still too God damn far away, pleading,

don't let them fail.

Don't let them fail him like you did
