Save Yourself

A Poem

I was waiting on you to save me, but instead, I suffocated you with my love and I persuaded you with my body. I swore I was all that you needed, but you kept telling me I wasn't what you wanted.

Now that you're gone, I kept asking myself how can I go on when I gave you every piece of me?

You distance yourself from me, you had enough courage than I did to emotionally remove me from your life, your thoughts.

But that didn't hurt me, it killed me. So I vow to never wait for someone to save me, hold on to what pieces I didn't give you, and save myself.
