Saltwater

A Look into the End

Yes, they’ll go silently,

Some may not even seem to fight.

The water will be their final grace

As the depths call for their life.

And you may hear only silence

And think of the ease of waves

The gentle lull and caressing pull;

You’ll see poetry in their graves.

But here in the saltwater shallows

And here in the darkest depths

You cannot see the battle fought

And lost in life’s final breaths.

It's not peace behind the current

That rests them in their graves

It's war that tears their souls apart

In corrosive, salty waves.

Yes, you hear only silence,

As they sink farther and farther down,

But the screams can only be silent

When coming from those who drown.
