Salted Wounds

How Life Thickened Your Skin

By Samantha RoybalPublished 6 years ago 1 min read

Down the darkest path I still saw you.

I knew it. I knew you were innocent. You were just a man who fell out of love, and was forced to take the dark road. I never doubted you, only once.. when you doubted me. It all makes sense now.

You did the best you could under the influence and I never once questioned the choices you made. Many saw the worst but I only saw the things that you intended to portray as cynical.

I don't blame you. I don't blame you for the way things turned out. I don't even blame you for the way you acted.

I blame how life made your skin thicker.
