Running Away

Finding Something New

He ran away. Away to a new life. The life he was living was no longer suitable. It never brought him happiness. It never brought him a pinch of pleasurable pain. Just a sadness. The people around him were so happy. Some were just content with the life they lived. Not him he needed more. He needed to know what happiness felt like. At least for one day.

One morning he was waken.Awaken with the thought to leave all behind. To go find happiness. He promised if he found it he would never return to the place he was raised to call home. One day will turn into a lifetime of joy. A eternality of dreams coming true.

So he left.Left all behind. No goodbye. No explanation. Why? The people he was forced to call family never cared about his joy. Never asked him what will make him smile. So he did not tend to their sanity. He was off to a unknown land to search for unknown feelings. Maybe even the feeling of true love.

He came to a land.A land where love was not found. Space was not easy to come by. Money was not freely given. Neither was freedom. He started to notice the color of his skin. He started to know the privileges he gotten in his last home. Scared. Alone. More alone then ever. The people around him abused him. The women laughed at him. He was nobody. Not loved. Not accepted. He wished he would have stayed in his family home.

Realization creeped behind him.Behind him saying, your family didn't ask you about your dreams because you must know the limits to your imagination. Your mother never asked what will make you happy because she knew what he wanted was beyond her reach. His father never taught him to go out and find himself a wife because he knew the type of women his son wanted was not what their life had to offer.

A small touch on his shoulder gave home the chills.

Son wake up. A dream. He was dreaming on running away. He was glad that was not the real outcome. Blessed for his family and well taken care of. Do you want to know what he did?

He ran away.
