Routine

A Day in My Life

Walk with me,

Take a minute to see my story,

Walk with me,

Let’s begin my day,

One, two, three…

My day begins at the end,

Nighttime medication to prepare for my day,

Two doses to help mend my mind,

Ready for the day, let’s be on our way.

I wake up early,

Sleeping in causes me to sink into sadness,

So I get up and start my day,

Even when it’s hard to escape the madness.

Eat a good meal,

That’s important to me,

Make sure you eat a good meal,

Take care of yourself, carefully.

Go to work,

A schedule you must follow,

If you lose track of today,

There will be no tomorrow.

The darkness starts to creep in,

But you have to push it back,

You don’t want to be at work,

You want to go back,

To your bed, away from work,

But you can’t give in,

You can’t let the darkness win.

You go home and the drive is long,

So you turn up the radio,

Sing to every song,

Because the louder you are,

The less you can hear the darkness.

You come home and are no longer busy,

You do what you can to make sure you’re busy,

If you keep cleaning these floors you’ll forget,

The darkness shining light on your every regret.

The day starts at your end,

You take your medication once again,

To repeat the cycle over and over,

You wonder if you will ever win,

Just because you take your meds doesn’t mean you can cope,

You just fill your days with busy hope.
