Robbed Nights

Mistakes Robbing You of Your Rest

Mistakes and questionable choices can be the worst things keeping you up at night. Photo courtesy of stevanovicigor on iStock.

Gluttony and greed

are the sins that lie in bed

side by side every night.

Gluttony demands to be fed,

wants to drink until the eyes close.

Credit lines climb to their limits

greed is never satisfied by what you have

or what you do - it demands more.

to do more to see more to spend more

to be more

Gluttony laughs when you look in the mirror

staring into your reflection

in a fine lacy nightgown

that cost more than a day's pay.

Can't hide the fat beneath the flesh

swollen by all the things you wanted.

You drop down on your knees

to accept and beckon them inside.

Broken and disgusting - disgusted with yourself

the product of desires quenched too fast.
