Roaming Alone

A Poem

Roaming Alone...

I lost my faith in love, love of the romantic kind.

For the sights that I've seen have made me wish that I was blind.

I hear fools talk of love like they understand what it means...

So now I choose not to listen, to live estranged from those dreams.

Hollow words haunt my mind, from the tips of deceitful tongues.

Clips flash through my mind like old movies being re run.

So I choose to be alone, so the fantasy can end.

How can I believe in a love forever, when all I’ve seen is pretend.

Vines of lies, entrap...demise.

Webs of frustration cover my eyes.

Through the valleys of doubt, shadows of the trees...

That there in the distance...

Roaming Alone is me.

Walking on through rain, Hail, sleet and snow...

Stopping only for the sun to stare...to feel this void go.

Losing myself in the blue sky...waltzing along again.

Floating through the never, a relentless leaf numb to pain.

I don’t know where I’m going, at least I know it’s real.

The heart I carry has hardened, there is still part that can feel.

With the eyes of the wise, I bare the wisdom of living and learnt.

I no longer play with fire, for my skins to delicate to be burnt.

Vines of lies, entrap...demise.

Webs of frustration cover my eyes.

Through the valleys of doubt, shadows of the trees...

That there in the distance...

Roaming Alone is me.

I’ll walk every rocky road, swim any stormy sea.

I’ll take on all and any challenge, for there is but one fear in me.

I fear the masquerade, I will not live a lie.

I believe the souls one thing, you should not compromise.

Vines of lies, entrap...demise.

Webs of frustration cover my eyes.

Through the valleys of doubt, shadows of the trees...

That there in the distance...

Roaming Alone is me.
