Rhyming Unreasonably

Please tell me when it's reasonable to rhyme. I like rhymes. But are they reasonable?

No reason, no rhyme, no reason, no rhyme,

I feel I’ve been floating for quite some time

Let all be assured that I’m never too sad

Though sometimes I think I might like to go mad

Think not for a moment this rhythm’s a curse,

In fact, I’m quite happily shackled to verse

It gives me direction, it gives me a pitch

It leaves you all frightened, awaiting a switch

Ha! Were you caught? Did your heart skip a beat?

Did you feel yourself jolted right out of your seat?

Did your pupils dilate to see better to run?

Now you’ve a taste for my own brand of fun

I can paint words, figuratively, literally too

Adorning this one with a sweet curlicue

For myriad reasons, or none but my whim

Just as witching hour’s a great time to swim

If you’re all by yourself in a house full of kin

And the swimming pool is where you yearn to slip in

Feel its chemical perfumes sink right through your skin

And as your hair fries, let your thoughts turn to sin

No reason, no rhyme, no reason, no rhyme

I feel I’ve been floating for quite some time

I’ll leave your limbs hanging at some awkward bend

For this is a story I choose not to end
