Revolution

(A Reflection)

Pity, the man that loses his own light

Chasing the stars in the middle of the night

Witness them move, to and fro; so far, so high

Time, ever-fleeting; his constant enemy

Reflected in the sea; the stars, serenity

In the rising tide, the calm ceases, ripples severing

Darkness, clouds, veil all that the light touches

Despite blindness, he heads for the summits

Blind hope, broken love, he aims above it

Weathering the plains, falling headlong, into nothing

Losing even himself in silence unbroken

He fears lurking creatures, hidden in the open

Lost in himself, his thoughts meander, revolve

The beast within, still, begins to evolve

On the highest of mountains, he ponders what he’s lost

Now still, in time, he embraces what the heavens bring

He lights the fires, and the meadowlarks sing

He hadn’t noticed all this time, the sun revolved around him

Out of the darkness, he can truly see

It was he, who he was meant to be

The risen sun, glistens and now he reflects on the sea
