Rémy’s Ode to River

The day you arrived.

The day you opened your eyes

Everything changed

My world began to rearrange

Once carefree, with no responsibility

Now filled with promise

Beacons of possibility

Of who I ought to be

To ensure, that you never long for more

Yet it’s more than material

You’re so precious, so ethereal

You deserve more than just my word

More than just promises, that on your newborn ears go unheard

You deserve action

Understand I do this not out of obligation

But out of love

For you, I would change the world

But I’ll start with my own

By making you a safe place to call home

My life once without direction

Is now centred by my own little piece of perfection.
