Remembering My Friend...

Remembering A Friend...

'Follow your heart, dear Stevie boy'...

'Where there's a will there's a way'...

'Never ever say can't'...

'Don't wish your time away'...

I could go on & on with the words embedded in my mind...

Words that you gave to me...

Of the hope you helped me to find.

You drained the negativity from inside of me...

until I felt that I finally believed.

That I could achieve any goal...

That I could & would succeed...

You were a breath of positivity...

That blew straight into me.

With a clean pair of eyes...

You helped me to see...

To visualise something better...

To find the power in me...

Suddenly the sun shined brightly...

Right through the eye of the storm.

It's a fact that the day I met you...

My life was reborn.

I was just a stubborn 19 year old kid...

Who knew nothing yet all...

You picked me up off the floor...

Taught me to be proud & stand tall...

'When the student is ready' you said...

'The teacher appears'...

With a warm wink of your wise eye...

You put to rest my fears.

Listened like a father...

Yet never judged like a friend...

Imprinted on my soul...

You live in me until my end...

You took me under your wing...

The A Team we become...

Shoulder to shoulder we worked...

In Wind, Snow, Rain & sun.

If I ever grow to be just half the man that you were...

I would leave this life feeling a success.

My greatest blessing it was to have you in my life...

My greatest teacher, friend, my hero...

Nothing less.

Our loss is Heaven's gain...

One day we will meet again.

About the Creator

Steven Baldry

I have been writing Poetry since I was a teenager. Now in my late thirties I enjoy it more than ever. I find it a wonderful release and it helps me to free my mind and understand myself and my emotions.
