Remember How It Felt

A Mantra for Leaving

The M-Line Trolley

I’m going to remember how it felt

To wait outside your door in the cold

I could hear the podcast playing

I’m going to remember how it felt

When I waited in my car

Staring at your patio while

My eyes started aching

I’m going to remember how it felt

When the patrol officer’s light was front facing

I told him I was waiting for you

Even I knew I was faking

I’m going to remember how it felt

When I put the car in reverse

My state of hysteria the whole ride home

I’m going to remember how it felt

Every

Single

Feeling

And let me tell you this

The kindest gesture you could show me

Is to leave me
