Refusing to Speak

Silent

There are many things she wishes she could say but unfortunately all of it has already been said.

Sometimes she feels at a complete loss for words, it's as if she’s never spoken a word at all.

English was a foreign language to her dry ice tongue.

She couldn’t find the words to express how angry she was so instead she punched a wall.

She was unable to find a way to tell someone she was sad so she took a knife, that she had hidden in her drawer, and she slit her wrists.

She couldn’t write what she wanted to say on paper so she wrote it in blood on the walls.

She couldn’t see the words in her mind so she colored the paper black with crayon.

She called for help so many times without even speaking.

She remembered what she was taught in first grade, “Actions speak louder than words.”

Those word will forever ring in her ears as she continues to express herself without uttering a single syllable.
