Rediscovering Goodness

A Poem of Hope

I have discovered that I still believe in magic

This thought came to me last night when I held my baby in my arms and felt his smile against my cheek

There was music playing from the abyss of a hollowed out tiny hunk of wood. The wielder of which pulled some of the joy from his own being to accompany it

This was done in order for it to be used as a form of currency but if you ask me the barterer greatly overpaid

Because when I closed my eyes it made me float away and I saw the world

There were blue skies behind my eyelids and rays of sunlight that danced on the surface of my heart

Before last night my heart hadn’t seen the sun in months and was beginning to lose hope in its existence

So just as expected my heart leapt so high that when it landed it’s splash sent the ocean spraying through my irises

As cool sand bathed my body in comfort like I belonged somewhere for once

It was beautiful absolutely beautiful and magical so much so that it reminded that this very world is magic and I I still believe in magic.
