Knife

she looks in the mirror, her pulse becomes faint

what she sees is only what her mind can project

she sees herself, alone and quaint

wonders if she did it, who would it affect

she slowly pulls back her dark black sleeve

and puts the blade to her silky skin

rumors cross her mind that she shouldn’t believe

and she realizes this is a battle that she just won't win

rumors and reality come to a close,

she slides the sharp edge along her vein

the dark red liquid drips on the petal of a rose,

her eyes close and she falls from the pain

becoming almost completely drained of life

she wakes up from this nightmare and puts down the knife
