Rainfall

Sailing Adrift

Sailing adrift now

to the island of pain,

Upon the arrival

it's all simply the same

A beautiful scene

of vast sandy beaches,

But suddenly met formally

with a darkness of rain

The sun takes cover

the clouds, which had subdued,

The rain takes to the stage

for performance on cue

Standing there helplessly

drenched by the pour,

No raincoat to cover

nor shelter for this fool

The melodious patter

on earth and the palms,

Would once seem relaxing

providing such calm

In merriment dancing

with barefooted hooves

A smile would caress the soul

just as it should

Soon the comfort

that one would interpret as bliss

Was met with trite

igniting the pain that insist

Knees deep in the sand

one may suddenly stoop

With hands raised to the heavens

shout cries now aloof

Detaching from the world

seem the perfect solution

No need for one to converse

in this state of confusion

Linger the question

"why has love left me forsaken? "

Betrayal was used cunningly

to have one awaken

From the slumber

the victim had undoubtedly coaxed

Under the storm erupted

now the showers eloped

Heartache now embraced

the pain that emerged

On the verge of losing self

some may take as a joke

No one dared ask

why one would endure such a trauma

Some figure a fault your own

allowing this drama

To weigh you down

Rather than rise above

heartbreak
