There was a young boy on the platform,
Standing with his mom,
And as a rainbow broke the clouds,
He asked where it came from.
"What's that colour mommy?"
"What about that one and that one and that?"
She recited them all patiently
And said "There's another one - in fact."
She said "It's there, just below, fainter than the other."
And the boy was amazed
At the knowledge of his mother.
I imagine you would have asked these questions,
Once upon a time.
Before sex and drugs and vices,
Had clouded your sweet mind.
I'm sure you'd still ask those questions,
If you hadn't gone away,
Though your years were twenty two,
Some innocence remained.
Today you looked so solemn,
Your make up was all wrong,
Your posture was so structured,
Your expression did not belong.
I will not say that rainbow,
Was you saying "Hello,"
Because I know I'll never find you,
In a simple rainbow.
And I'm not going to say,
That I know your watching over,
Because the truth is that you're gone,
Despite my discomposure.
But something that is certain,
And I'll swear it everyday,
Is that our epic memories,
Will never go away.
I'll think of you each moment,
In waking and in sleep,
And in that way you're somewhere still,
Not to make another peep.
