Quiet Wonderings

...of a tired mind.

Wherever you are is exactly where I want to be,

Tucked away under these sheets,

Reaching for you, reaching for me,

Cuddled up, pressing the cold away,

From the open window above our heads,

As the winter breeze rushes in,

Cooling us to our bones,

Pull the blankets nice and close,

Oh the weather here is changing,

Never really made sense at all,

But outside my window,

Through the small breaks in the clouds,

I still see stars,

I still see constellations,

I'm still running away with my imagination,

And I hardly even notice that you're looking up at me,

Staring at the sky,

Lost in space,

And you're wondering where I am,

When I drift off like this,

Chasing all my galaxies,

So far away from this,

Running through the forests,

Climbing up the trees,

Looking out over the water,

Reaching into the darkness,

Ever so slightly hoping something reaches back,

And you smile to yourself,

Because you already know all of this,

That my mind is an untamed beast,

Of beautiful wonderment,

And the only way to tame it,

Is to simply let it run free,

Follow along and run with me.

The thought slowly fades,

As your eyes gently close,

The winter breeze can no longer reach your toes,

I smile when I look down at you,

I pull you in tight,

I close my eyes,

Whisper to the universe,

"That's all...good night."
