Quiet Night

I was walking at a quarter past 11 one Sunday night

The air was crisp and cool

I heard a train blow its horn and the loud noise of the wheels on the tracks

My shadow disappearing in and out underneath the silver moonlight

There was a rabbit standing, staring my way

Almost as to judge my every move

I walked on into the cold darkness

The sweet sound of nothing whistling through the leafless trees

It's almost as though everything was so green and full of life just days ago

I passed the House where I spent my childhood full of love and happiness

There's nothing I can do now

I walk this same route over and over

as if I've been frozen in time

On this cold winter night
