Queen of Things
The Girl Who Had Everything & Nothing
Queen of things
What pain emptiness brings
No songs for my heart to sing
The loneliness stings
I’ve got a heart but no strings
Queen of things
Let me tell you a story about a little girl
Who was only worth what she had
The experiences and wisdom gave her no hats
She often sat there in a closet full of things
Things that would bring all sorts of smiles
But only from the hearts of others
would she hear the song she wanted to sing
Sitting there looking at hats
Wondering if she would ever have one of her own
Did they know she Hadn’t grown
The Blanket she had sewn
Told stories of glory, almost triumph
But those weren’t enough for anyone
What has she really done
Except get fucked up and run
Run from pain, from the emptiness
But only got more of the same
Of that she had plenty
Same of yesterday and no happy endings
More of the same stories told of a time
When she was doing more than perfecting fabrications in her mind
Were they lies?
They made up who she was
But who was that
Those years of molding she will never get back
Tell me what you see
When you look at me
Do you see me?
Or do you see the me I’m trying to make you see
Pain is free and I nothing more to bring
I have no songs to sing
No hats to wear
And i know you don’t care,
Go Dance story telling girl they say
Tell us your stories of your better days
Your best days
Play hatless girl play.
If you don’t make us smile you can’t stay
No room for people with no hats and no purpose
This isn’t that kind of place
We didn’t come here to party
We came to watch you dance
Now tell us your stories
Dance hatless girl, dance.
