A Poem in Memory of Prince

This is a poem I wrote in memory of Prince after he passed away.

Purple Prince

Not ready to say good-bye,

not ready to let go.

Your passing is too hard

to comprehend.

You left us too soon.

We grieve a genius,

a legend of our time.

An icon to many,

now lost without your presence.

Your music is all that’s left,

Along with your memory.

Music that was a soundtrack

To the lives that you touched, including mine.

I was lucky enough to have the chance

to see the re-release of your movie.

An experience that I'll never forget.

Your spirit was felt throughout the room,

noticed by us in the theater.

I too had the same feeling,

that in spirit you were sitting amongst us.

You may be gone,

but you will never really leave us.

You’re being kept alive by all those who loved you.

And now when it rains,

I no longer see it as a day of bad weather.

No.

Instead I see it as a sign

being sent down from up above

By the Purple Prince himself.
