The public that is affected by this phenomenon

This phenomenon that focuses on violence and drugs and killing

And all the blood that is spilling and no one is willing

To tell you the truth

So let me tell you the truth-

We are a united nation that is so divided

With news channels making everything seemed one-sided

Fox is conservative

And CNN is argumentative

No one tells you the bigger picture

No one tells you what happens overseas

Or why the players are on their knees

They focus on what supports their views

When did this become fake news

Not to give that clown in office more power

But this is our hour

To stand up and prove we know what's going on

That we are strong

But then we resort to violence

Dealing out the death sentence

Like we aren’t taking another life

A man who had a wife

Who said we can play God

Does no one else find this odd?

Everyone has a voice

But often our voice is silenced

By those that resort to this violence

Criticized for taking a knee but I have news for you,

This is the land of the free and home of the brave

Wait-

Rewind

Land of the free and home of the brave?

Yet we are broken and enslaved by the media and norms in a society of a nation built on variety?

Wondering what’s going on?

Where we went wrong?

One girl rapped and the other dead, never to be wed because this ain't corpse bride and everyone wants a free ride from those who work hard to provide and yet—

That's still not enough cuz those who serve our nation are coming back with PTSD but we’re blinded by clowns on the TV still not seeing we’re the change this nation is needing.

We’re called the worst generation yet we aren't changing.

Maybe if we step up and take on these challenges the people all around us won't be falling.

Death all around us with suicide rising and police brutality yet they call it a trend?

No that's not a trend that's my friend!

But there's this stigma put on stepping up- we’re either brave or stupid not just doing what's right.

Everyone wants to gain, not save people from pain.

But what about the boy next to you who's struggling for his next meal?

What about our brothers and sisters?

Fathers and mothers?

Money first?

Family second?

When did we become so corrupted?

So that's not ok in politics but in everyday life?

And yet we continue because there’s good too.

Our graduation rates are rising, we are taking over society.

Everyone blames it on the millennials yet we’re cleaning up the mess you made.

But that’s not enough cuz they disrespect our mothers and kill our brothers and it’s not just one race but this whole place that needs saving

Changing

But the kids get lazier with obesity on the rise and no one to exercise our rights?

No one to step up and protect us because these challenges are for us, not those who have done enough.

We look for the next Nelson Mandela or Dr. King but that’s not what we need to take on this fight.

So don’t criticize cuz I opened your eyes to the problems of our society built on variety

And so I say
