The Mind's Conjured up Protection

Projected affection
the mind’s conjured up protection.
Wishing meets wanting
and having equates holding.
control can’t convince us
that chance can’t unhinge us,
yet we place blame on fate
like the hound.
and we give hateful demerits
to the unexpected from yesterday.
Still, we pray ‘neath the sheets and
the curtains drawn at night
For preparation’s grace-
celestial footsteps traced-
With no strings of confusion
and none of doubt’s pollution
just sunshine.
just clear skies.
and more second tries.
Always more second tries
At faking the happiness we think we need to devise.
