Presence

Good Morning

Pale morning light creeps in

Its questing rays find narrow passages

Around closed curtains

And between shuttered blinds

The light is dim and the air is cool

The fan blows soothing white noise

It's peaceful here

I stretch in bed

Rejoicing in the comfort of

My warm nest of blankets

The softness of my pillow

The bliss of my bed

I greet the day and look around

At the darkened room

There you are next to me

Still lost in peaceful dreams

Your sleeping body radiates

Warmth and contentment

And like a sleeping cat

You stretch out languidly

Completely at ease

Fully asleep and relaxed

Your breathing is rhythmic and calming

I snuggle closer to this heat source

That is you

I put my back against yours

And sigh in relief

At the warm softness I find there

I can smell the essence of your clean skin

The smell of your soap, so familiar

So comforting

A smell that reminds me

Of safety, warmth, love

Because it is your smell

I drift in and out of sleep

As your warm aura envelopes me

Surrounding me

This is my favourite time of the day

Sometimes I take out my phone

Play a mindless game

Just enjoying your presence

Before I get out of bed

To face the dayand the cruel, cold world

Other times I drift back to warm dreams

Usually dreams of you

Others place such importance

On the physical side of a relationship

But I believe these moments

Are what's truly important

If I can bask in the simple joy

Of the closeness of you

The very essence of you

I'm convinced we'll last an eternity

And eternity is exactly what

I'd want to spend

As long as it's in this bed

On this morning

In the warm bubble

Of your presence

About the Creator

A. R. Ambrosi

I like to write, if that makes me a writer, then rock on!

I started writing as a child because I ran out of stuff to read. So, I only write stuff that I like. If you like it too, awesome! Enjoy! ^_^
