Positive

A Poem

Positive.

Sometimes when I look around it’s all negativity I see.

Angry faces, bitter hearts, selfish people held in their own captivity.

By the TV, the Radio, the Newspaper's front page...

It’s all Terrorism, scandals, greed, corruption, war and rage.

It’s so easy to join the masses, to be part of the crowd.

To jump on-board the train of hate and spit your poison loud.

I refuse to be smothered by this cloud covering so many lives.

So I choose to look beyond the darkness and beyond the lies.

This world is not a paradise, these lives are not perfect.

But it’s the little things you see when you look around that make it so beautiful and worth it.

Sincere acts of kindness that stop my heart from bleeding.

People giving of themselves even though they are needing.

I see the love shared between so many...

Family, lovers, and friends.

It is the purest essence of all that is good.

A love unconditional, that never ends.

There are those helping complete strangers.

With no question in their minds.

Of what they will gain from their actions...

Or from giving of their time.

I see Children playing in the streets...

Remember the wonder of innocence in their eyes.

The golden promise of youth in their smile...

I am humbled although wise.

There is always something so inspiring around us to be seen.

If you look through eyes of compassion, you will understand what I mean.

I was born with a heart so sensitive, a need to be kind, honest and give.

I believe that there are many out there like me and that is what keeps me Positive.
