1.

My unique simplicity

Just cannot provide

For all the emotion

The pain that I hide

My mask is thick and sturdy

But my colors shine through

I could never mask the pain

Left from losing you

2.

Oh how I miss your vibrance

Your energy and passion

Big ole heart, wide open eyes,

Never out of fashion

Return me to days

Of carelessness and fun

The world was so bright

Life had just begun

Now I feel every second

Slowly wearing on my bones

With empty memories left

In the time that I'm alone

3.

When I look at my reflection

I don’t see what I used to

I don’t see the man I know

I couldn’t tell ya who

I thought I knew myself better

That is until you came along

In a place that was always right

How did you make it so wrong

4.

The shadows on my wall

Mimic faces of my past

Reminding me of old memories

And things not made to last.

A smile a wave

Maybe a passing glance

Returns me to a world

Of long dead romance

The memories stand still

As they’re burned into my mind

A secret world all my own

Of things I’ve left behind

5.

If I were to string together

Words on some pages for you

Can you imagine

What else I’m willing to do?

If I were to come running

Whenever you call

Would you still quietly judge

My intentions at all?

What I wouldn’t do

To get close to you

To love and support you

In all you may do

I do not want to own you

I don't wish to make you mine

Like an old rusty fence

On a property line.

I’m here to push you

See how high you can fly

As long as you come back

It won’t matter why

So come to me baby

I’ll be right here

I will calm your worried mind

And ease all your fear

6.

I've got no reason

For my eyes not to shut.

To bother washing myself

Or to even get up

I'll sleep and I'll sleep

Until my eyes they won't close

Fill my bloodstream with liquor

cocaine in my nose

I can't beat the demons

I can't stop the dream

And I've lost all ambition

To fight in between.

I've begged and I've pleaded

Tried to deal with the devil

But they wouldn't connect

He won't come to my level

I've sunk so low

No point to get up

I can still reach my whiskey

I can still fill my cup

Since I can't move

I'll just lay here in vein

Hope somebody's God

Will put an end to this pain

7.

If it's forbidden fruit

That has the sweetest taste

Then these fruits come from Eden

Forbidden, just go to waste

Many wish to sample

Taste of fruits they cannot eat

But there's no trespassing signs

The taste is too sweet

Some stand outside the gates

Like they wish to come in

But they dance outside

In a minutes time are gone again

To all you I say

Avoid this garden of plenty

If your intentions are to eat and run

And leave me dry and empty
