For the Broken Hearted

Do not envy them dear,

For why would the sun

Envy the moon?

It's okay to be a daisy

In a field of roses

Being simple and pure

In a world full of complexities

Is the most beautiful thing to be

In this world full of black and white

Dare to be a rainbow

You were never meant to be like them

No

You were meant to stand out

You were meant to be unique

Free from societies cookie cutter

You broke the mold darling

And you're all the more exquisite for it

Beautiful is the wrong word to describe you

You are fierce

Brave

Unlike any other

You are a roaring fire that warms everyone around her

You are the soft breeze that calms an aching soul

You are like water

You are soft enough to create

But hard enough to destroy

Don't let anyone take that away from you

Unlike my mother before me

I never felt a loving touch from a man

I felt his harsh words pounding in my ears

I felt his rough hands around my neck

I felt his anger try to destroy my glass heart

And yet

Here I stand

Ready to try again

Ready

For love

Don't try and be his wild Saturday night

Be his warm Sunday morning

Be his fresh cup of coffee and homemade jam

Be his comfort, his safety, his warmth

And if he loves you the same

He'll be all the same to you

Do the things that scare you

Tell him you love him

Buy that bus ticket

Leave that job

Be who you are

Do what you want

And never let anyone tell you no

heartbreak
