Lyrics—Shine

First Post. I write most of my poems as lyrics. I don't sing.

Shine

It’s okay to feel sad, hide away when things get bad

Shut the door and lock away your heart

And it’s alright to shed a tear, cry a lake or lie in fear

If that’s what you need to get on by tonight

I know that you feel alone like you’re lost away from home

But I can tell you, you aren’t the only one

There’s no need to feel ashamed, we all suffer and feel the pain

Just the same as you do, in our hearts

Chorus

“You gotta get up and dry those tears

Wake at dawn and face those fears

Let the sun shine down and warm your sweet face

Where there’s life to shine out sorrow

You can brave a new tomorrow

Cause I know your spirit won’t let you run away”

With each experience comes a lesson

Sometimes harder than it seems

That’s when all the walls around you

Seem to grow so very steep

I watch you walk in the shadows

Chasing ghosts in your mind

Feel you slipping into darkness

When you choose to live inside your mind

Chorus

“You gotta get up and dry those tears

Wake at dawn and face those fears

Let the sun shine down and warm your sweet face

Where there’s life to shine out sorrow

You can brave a new tomorrow

Cause I know your spirit won’t let you run away”

But take my hand, and I'll walk with you,

I am always by your side

Watching over you, from a distance

You are always on my mind

A friend that I hold deeply

And so close to my heart

You’re are a friend who I will carry

Every time you lose your path

Chorus

“You gotta get up and dry those tears

Wake at dawn and face those fears

Let the sun shine down and warm your sweet face

Where there’s life to shine out sorrow

You can brave a new tomorrow

Cause I know your spirit won’t let you run away”

So let’s find the sun together

Won’t you take me by the hand

I will lead you into sunshine

With your heart held in my hand

About the Creator

Chantel Tamara

I love to write. I used to dream of being a songwriter. Its a bit tricky if you can't sing and don't live in America, I realized. No reason not to continue writing.
