Playing by the Lake

An Original Piece by Me

At the lake I am invincible,

I am a knight covered in sand armor,

a dragon protecting my castle,

a wizard with magical stones in my pocket.

At the lake, I have shed my skin.

The pale yellow has been replaced with a new red.

A new shade, making me a martian in my own planet.

A martian by the name of Max.

All day I will play by the water,

watching my brother splash around with the other kids.

Splish, splash, the water will splash,

making everyone's hair darker, all except mine.

I can not play in the water,

mom says my cast can't get wet.

The water will taunt me,

like my brother when I don't want to play.

I like sitting in the sand,

even if my foot is a little itchy.

The sand is friendly,

always ready to play with me.

It whispers for me to play,

and I do not resist.

The sand is my friend,

and it is my duty to protect it.
