Phantom Embrace

Distant love

I dreamed of you this morning.

You slowly approached me and the closer you appeared,

your arms raised in greeting with open arms, which turned to a hug of comfort.

You didn't say a word, but you held on to me tight as if you were protecting me.

As if you knew I needed your embrace of approval.

As I looked up at you, I kissed you as I told you I had not yet brushed my teeth.

You just wrinkled your nose and lingered the kiss.

Placing your left cheek on my head you held me as to provide me with security.

As my alarm alerts me to awaken, I feel as though I can still feel your embrace.

You felt so real, you felt as though you were still here lying beside me.

Still here embracing me.
