I've been from there to here
And from place to place
The only thing I've learned
Is that people are the same
I've seen anger and hatred
Jealousy and theft
I've seen romance and sadness
And people left bereft
I've been frightened and fragile
And felt strong when riled
I've held poisonous creatures,
That wriggled and writhed
I've met those who can't see
and some who would soon die
I've fallen farther than one should
And survived it all through
I've spoke to those who can't read
And they have knowledge too
For one thing I've learnt is
That I cannot be grouped
And neither can you
I've rested on beaches shored white
And walked roads of cobble stone
Trespassed the homes where villains lie
From the river it's just a throw
I've dipped in estuaries
And cycled along ravines
I've looked into the deep
And reflected on things I'd seen
I've been the forest
I've set fires in one too
Because the simple truth is,
you cannot predict
What a person will do
I've been over and around
Trodden up and down
Raced across stretches
And laughed along with the wretches
I've graced tables
And hosts
And enjoyed a few
But not most
I've had my fair share of toasts
And enough bread like blood has been broke
I've met many who thought that they know
And some who simply see
For when I rode east
And sailed back west
One thing has struck me
More than all the rest
It was true when I climbed north
And enforced as I crawled south
And saw the pits of snakes
Struggling to get out
That wherever you lie
And whatever you say
However you eat
And to whomever you pray,
There's not a lot that joins us
But we all share the day
Remember, all humans are similar
But no two people are the same.
