I can only pretend that you weren't the one I claimed to love before

In front of me, betray my memory with a figure you knew I'd abhor

Taken with the call of neon lights, strip yourself of the face that you wore

Plead your case for acceptance, hide imperfections that make you who you are

Ashamed to admit you're imperfect

Try to show your worthy of the title

Of most desirable heart in the room

Change, necessary evolution

Hate for the shape you are made from

Hurts your soul, for you feel alone when you look around

If you fail to love what you're made of

Don't expect me to stay and perform

The dance of submission to the queen you think you are

It's all an illusion you carry

Catch the eyes of those you don't care to know

Only so you feel better about the hollow form you parade

Claim that you are a person yourself yet you blend into the mass that you chose

Unaware of the shallow depth you tread, I wonder if you see your foes

Slap on another shade of disgrace to the name you carefully compose

Must be easy to walk home alone, when you care not for those you all but oppose
