Outside the Window

Cold, Dreary, and Wet. Dreaming of Sunshine

Outside the window, I stare into the deep darkness before me. The condensation coats the outside of the sturdy panes. A force of nature has just passed through. It has left the earth weeping and wailing. The tears from the sky fall gently onto the ground, wandering over branches and rooftops. It is quiet finally. Only the sound of the dripping precipitation remains.

Despite this, I continue gazing into the distance dreaming of sunshine. Dreaming of the warmth from the sun hugging my body like a fond embrace. If only I could reach out and touch one of the gentle rays, with its renewing spirit.

My thoughts are interrupted with a somber rumble from the clouds above, threatening more upheaval.

I stare back out into the grey skies. My thoughts return to that of the clear blue canvas and fluttering jays moving gracefully through the heavens. Not a single threat to the peaceful space in my wandering mind.

For there, they cannot be touched by the stormy conditions of my reality. The sun will always shine there. The warmth and cool breeze that graces my forehead cannot be disrupted. I am in total restfulness and cerebral bliss. My window remains open. The wind begins to pick up, the droplets of rain begin to fall as the thunder ensues. I am untouched. I remain unaffected. Staring deep into the clouds and holding tight to my ray of sunshine. My reality.
