A Poem

You don’t know the first thing about strength,

When the battle gets too hard, you run away.

Put others before yourself in harm’s way,

But I won’t let you get to me today.

You think you have power over me.

Maybe before, but now, I’m free.

You’re nothing but a heartless person, filled to the brim with cruelty.

And I’m done playing your games,

I’ll break free, today’s the day

Outline my flaws

to make me feel small.

If you pull me to the ground,

this time, I’ll fight.

Outline the imperfections

to get inside my head.

Pull down to your size,

I’ll still win.

And I’ll finally be alright.

Dig up my insecurities,

make me hate myself.

You don’t know the first thing about love.

Oh, well.

You’re irredeemable,

oh, I can tell.

Slowly, I’m picking up my pieces,

and I’m doin’ it by myself.

And I’m done playing your games.

I’ll break free, today’s the day.

Outline my flaws

to make me feel small.

Pull me to the ground,

this time, I’ll fight.

Outline the imperfections

to get inside my head.

Pull me down to your size,

oh, I will still win.

And I’ll finally, finally be okay again.

Maybe one day you’ll realize,

I’m not your pet.

Maybe one day you’ll see,

you can’t control me.

Outline my fears

make me wanna hide.

Outline the scars

that I’m not ashamed of, and I

I’ll do whatever it takes

to make you wake from the fantasy

where you control me.

Outline my flaws

to make me feel small.

Outline the imperfections

to get inside my head.

It won’t

because deep down inside,

I’ve found myself.

I don’t have to hide.

Outline, outline, outline, outline.
