Outlawed In-Betweens

The Less Depth, the Better

Black or white.

Yes or no.

Something is or it isn’t.

Square, not a box.

Circle, not a hole.

Cover, not a book.

People crave simplicity.

Who, what or where is welcome,

But how and why cause migraines.

How and why draw another axis of reason.

How and why provide depth.

How and why give the Questioned a brain

And make them human.

Explanations shan’t exist

In a world drawn by simplicity and control.

You expect a kindergartener

To draw cubes and prisms in a coloring book?

Absolutely not.

So why must there be grays in with blacks and whites?

Why does “maybe” exist when we just want a yes or a no?

Why would a lack of certainty be allowed when something just is or isn’t?

And why should we learn more from the pages of a book,

When we can shallowly filter in a message from what’s on the cover?
