"Look at the sky..."

Look at the sky-

Do you see the clouds

Spinning and swirling

Breaking off into small tufts of white

Walk with me.

Follow me blindly into the woods

Where the trees rise

A mile high

Until their tops scrape the

Bottom of the clouds.

Look through the leaves.

See how the sun shines

Through the gaps,

Tinting the light green.

Look in front of us.

The trees break

A meadow dotted with dandelions

Rimmed with daffodils

Green grass speckled with yellow and white

Some minuscule specks of purple litter the ground

This is where I come to think

A palace of nature

Where I build the castle in my mind.

When it rains,

I sit and scrub the floors

Hang droplets of glass

Around dozens of chandeliers

I brought you here

To show you paradise

And while you take it all in

Suck the sweet scented air deep into your lungs

To implore you

Do we dare disturb the universe?

Do we dare move from our given spot on the playing field?

Do we dare raise our voice against

The cards we have been dealt

In this stealth game

With no winner

And no loser?

Do we dare speak out

Against the societal wrongs

Against the countless deaths of slave men and women

Against the countless deaths of the natives of this land we now call home

Against the countless women beaten into submission

Against the countless men hanged for the color of their skin?

Do we dare speak out

In a beautiful attempt

To change this world we live in

To better suit our changing

Growing

Advancing

Beautiful youth?

Do we dare disrupt

The changing of the seasons

The motion of the tides

The rotation of the earth

For the chance

To make a change

And improve upon what we already have?

I see it in your eyes

You're here with me tonight

Because you have a little bit of

"Save the world"

In you.

So I ask one more time-

Do we dare disrupt the universe?
